Use this procedure in order to troubleshoot low aftercooler coolant pressure or use this procedure if the following event code is active. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Codes" for information about event codes.
Table 1
Event Code
CDL Code and Description Conditions which Generate this Code System Response
E2113(1) Low Aftercooler Coolant Pressure The aftercooler coolant pressure has fallen below specifications for the specified delay time. The code is logged.
E2113(2) Low Aftercooler Coolant Pressure
E2113(3) Low Aftercooler Coolant Pressure Probable Causes
Pump components
Coolant linesRecommended Actions
Note: The procedures have been listed in order of probability. Complete the procedures in the order of the listed test steps.
Table 2
Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check for Codes
A. Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools", if necessary.
B. Download the "Product Status Report" from the engine ECM before performing any troubleshooting or clearing diagnostic trouble codes.
C. Determine if the diagnostic trouble code that directed to this procedure is present.
D. Look for active diagnostic codes that are associated with the system for the event code that directed to this procedure.
E2113
Result: An associated code is present.
Repair: Troubleshoot any associated codes before continuing with this test.
Result: An E2113 code is present.
Proceed to the next step.
Result: No active codes
STOP
2. Inspect the Pump Components
A. Check for a damaged aftercooler water pump.
B. Inspect the impeller of the water pump for damage and wear.
Pump
Results: The aftercooler water pump is OK
Proceed to the next step.
Results: The water pump is NOT OK
Repair: Repair or replace the water pump.
If the problem is not resolved, proceed to the next step.
3. Check the Coolant Lines
A. Inspect cooling system components for leaks.
B. Ensure that the level of the coolant for the separate circuit aftercooler system is adequate.
Coolant leak
Results: The coolant lines and the coolant level are OK
Results: The coolant lines and the coolant are NOT OK
Repair: Clear restrictions and replace any damage lines.
