Step 1. Manual Linkage Check
Test Procedure:With engine stopped, manually move actuator lever and linkage to full FUEL ON position against stop screw. Expected Results:Linkage should move thru full travel until it is against stop screw, without binding or excessive force. Step 2. Check For Fuel Linkage Travel Against Stop Screw
Test Procedure:Run only one engine. Now load the engine until speed slows to 50 rpm less than Rated speed. Check fuel linkage to determine if linkage goes completely to max. fuel position. If not enough load is available to move fuel linkage to max. fuel position, look at fuel linkage during acceleration from Low Idle to Rated speed. Expected Results:Linkage should go to max. fuel position (if enough load is available). Step 3. Check for Engine Speed Control and Response (at Part Load)
Test Procedure:Run only one engine in Isochronous Mode at Part to Full Load. Disconnect any external speed control components (such as Synchronizer) from 2301 Control. Now adjust the potentiometers (on the 2301 Control panel) that follow: * RATED SPEED* GAIN* STABILITY* LOAD GAIN Set LOAD GAIN voltage the same as the other units are set for Full Load (usually about 4 to 6 volts). Now check engine speed control and response to load changes. Expected Results:Acceptable speed control with good response. Step 4. Check CT Phasing
Test Procedure:Connect voltmeter to Load Signal jacks on face of control panel. Run only one engine in Isochronous Mode at Part to Full Load. Now jumper across each CT input, one phase at a time. Expected Results:The Load Signal voltage should drop by one-third (1/3) as each phase is jumpered (shorted). Step 5. Measure and Compare Individual Supply Voltages
Test Procedure:Run only one engine. Measure the supply voltage to 2301 Control. Now make the same measurement with the other engine. Make a comparison between the results of the supply voltage measurements of each of the load share engines to their respective 2301 Controls. Expected Results:Voltage difference between 2301 Control units should not be more than 2 volts. Step 6. Check Output for Phase Match and Speed Control (w/o Transfer Switch)
Test Procedure:Connect any external speed control components that were removed, such as Synchronizer, back to the 2301 Control. Run only one engine at Rated speed. Now disable or disconnect the Transfer Switch and synchronize phase with main bus while external control is active. Observe the output for phase match and speed control. Expected Results:Phase match is correct and speed control is acceptable. Step 7. Load Share Test
Test Procedure:Put the Transfer Switch back into operation. If necessary, make adjustments to all settings that follow so they are the same as all other units:* Speed* Droop* Load Gain* Generator Voltage* Voltage Droop* GainNow Load Share Test with the other power sources. Expected Results:Engine should take and share the load. Step 8. Synchronizer Check
Test Procedure:Check Synchronizer for acceptable command signal during paralleling attempt to connect power to bus bars. Expected Results:Automatic phase match and Transfer Switch command signal are both good. Step 9. Reverse Power Relay Check
