Pressure contactor for the engine oilThe system uses four pressure contactors for engine oil. Two pressure contactors are used to monitor the oil pressure of the engine at low idle. One contactor is used for the alarm circuit and the other contactor is used for the shutdown circuit.The other two pressure contactors are used in order to monitor the oil pressure of the engine when the RPM is greater than the oil step. One contactor is used for the alarm circuit and the other contactor is used for the shutdown circuit.The contactor uses a set of contacts of a single pole double throw. The contacts are a form C contact which consists of the following terminals: common, normally open and normally closed.The contactors use the normally closed contacts. When the oil pressure is normal, the contacts will be open. When the oil pressure drops below the normal, the contacts will close and the two circuits will be enabled: alarm and shutdown.ReferenceSee Testing and Adjusting, "Setpoints" for the proper setpoints for each of the contactors.
