Description of Change: A solenoid (2) is available for servicing the Hydrax actuator groups on these engines. Formerly, the solenoid was not a serviceable component. See the illustration. The O-ring seal (1) that goes between the actuator body (A) and the solenoid is also available for parts service. The bolts (3) that fasten the solenoid to the actuator body are also serviceable.

This illustration shows the locations of components in a typical Hydrax actuator group. (A) Hydrax Actuator Body. (1) 033-6032 O-Ring Seal. (2) 101-9528 Solenoid. (3) 129-3174 Bolt .Adaptable To: The 101-9528 Solenoid is available for servicing the Hydrax actuators on the above engines. The 033-6032 O-Ring Seal and 129-3174 Bolt are also available for parts service.Solenoid Replacement Procedure
One new 101-9528 Solenoid is required for this procedure.
Remove the four 129-3174 Bolts (3) that fasten the solenoid (2) to the actuator body (A). Remove the solenoid and the O-ring seal (1) .
Put a new 033-6032 O-Ring Seal (1) in position on the new 101-9528 Solenoid .
Use care to place the new O-ring seal assembly into position in the actuator pilot bore.
Install the four bolts (3) that fasten the solenoid to the actuator body (A). Then tighten the four bolts (3) to a final torque of 3.0 0.2 N m (27 2 lb in).Troubleshooting Guidelines
The Engine Control Module (ECM) sends a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to the Hydrax driver module. The Hydrax driver module converts the PWM signal to a current signal. The Hydrax actuator solenoid receives the current signal from the Hydrax driver module. The Hydrax actuator solenoid uses the current signal to control the position of the Hydrax actuator. The current signal output from the Hydrax driver module will be within the range of 0.4 to 2.0 amperes.Erratic operation of a Hydrax actuator is usually an indication of a failed solenoid. Before you replace the solenoid, check for the following conditions:
Proper ECM signal
Proper Hydrax driver module current signal
