Creating Artifacts
Selecting "Create Artifact Mode" allows a user to start drawing artifacts, such as a crest, or to place a bootleg hole. Artifacts are defined on the "Terrain (Drilling & Draglines)" menu of the "Manage Site Settings" dialog.To create an artifact, perform the following procedure:
On the "File Viewer" dialog, click the "Create Artifact Mode" toolbar icon, The cursor changes to a crosshair.The current coordinates of the mouse cursor are shown in the top left of the screen.
To start drawing an artifact, first select the type of artifact from the drop-down list. A list of available artifact types is displayed in a drop-down list to the right of the "Create Artifact Mode" toolbar icon.Note: An artifact type can only be selected when the artifact is created.There are numerous types of artifacts that can be drawn including:
Toe
Bench
Road
Rail
House
Grid
Pattern
Chest
Polygon
Text
Circle
Border
F Line
Socket
BootlegThe listed artifacts are the system defaults and can be edited.
Once the artifact type is selected, left-click on the map where the first node will be placed. New nodes for the line or polygon can be added by left-clicking the location on the map where the node will be placed. Editing Artifacts
In a map with bootleg holes and or border artifacts, the user can:
Select artifacts
Edit artifacts
Adjust artifacts
Clear artifacts
Delete artifactsSelecting All Artifacts
Artifacts can be selected using the following methods:
Click the "Select Artifact" icon on the toolbar, and drag the cursor over the artifact or artifacts to edit. The selected artifacts display with a blue circle on the end nodes.
Click the "Select Artifact" icon on the toolbar, then right-click anywhere on the pattern map and click "Select All Artifacts". All artifacts are selected and the artifact nodes change to a blue circle.Editing an Artifact
Perform the following procedure:
Click "Select Artifact Mode" on the toolbar.
Drag the cursor over the artifact or artifacts edit. The selected artifacts display with a blue circle on the end nodes.
Right-click, then select "Edit Artifact". The "Artifact Editor" displays.
From the drop-down list, select the values to adjust, either the "Easting" or "Northing" measurement.
Enter the amount by which to adjust the position of the artifact. The amount is the absolute value of the position to change to.
From the drop-down list, select the desired measurement.
Click "Save". Adjusting an Artifact

Right-click, then select "Adjust Artifact". The "Artifact Editor" displays.
From the drop-down list, select the value to adjust, either the "Easting" or "Northing" measurement.
Enter the amount by which to adjust the position of the artifact. The amount is the relative value to adjust by.
From the drop-down list, select the desired measurement.
Click "Save". Clearing Artifacts
Perform the following procedure:
With the pattern map open, select the artifact to clear.
Right-click the artifact and then click "Clear Selected Artifact". Deleting an Artifact
Perform the following procedure:
With the pattern map open, use the arrow icon "Select Mode" and drag the cursor across one, or several, artifacts to delete.
Right-click the artifact or artifacts and then click "Delete Artifact". Note: Ensure that the correct artifacts
