G399 ( 49C ) Natural Gas EnginesDescription of Change: A new rear support for the oil cooler is used in the 3N1323 Oil Cooler And Lines Group for the above engines. The new support is a 20 mm (.79") thick iron casting with bosses. Formerly, a plate, pressed from 3.5 mm (.14") thick steel, was used with spacers.
The new support is stronger than the former plate, and the bosses permit the use of shorter bolts. Since spacers were used with the former plate, longer bolts were necessary. Vibration some times caused the bolts to break.
Locations of the new parts.Adaptable To: The new parts are in effect with the Serial Numbers shown in Chart A. Used together, they are adaptable to all earlier engines equipped with the 8L4857 Water Passage Cover. Chart B gives the necessary parts for conversion of the group.
