Required Tools
Tool    Part Number    Part Description    Qty
A     6V-4161     Pressure Gauge Kit     1    Note: Perform the following procedure whenever the hydraulic tank has been drained. It is necessary to perform this procedure in order to prevent damage to the hydraulic pumps.
Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the proper filling procedure.
Connect an air regulator and connect a valve to the test fitting on the hydraulic tank. Connect a hose and connect a needle valve between Tooling (A) and the test fitting on the hydraulic pump outlet line.
Move the TILT control lever to the full RACK BACK position. Put 50 to 105 kPa (7 to 15 psi) of air pressure in the hydraulic tank. Open the needle valve. Allow oil to drain out of the hose on the pump outlet line until the oil is free of air bubbles. Close the needle valve.
Move the TILT control lever to the HOLD position.
Close the valve on the air regulator. Open the needle valve on the hose that is connected to the pump outlet line in order to release the pressure in the system. Close the needle valve and disconnect the hose from the test fitting on the pump outlet line. Disconnect the air regulator from the test fitting on the hydraulic tank.
Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the proper filling procedure.
Connect the air regulator and connect the valve to the test fitting on the hydraulic tank. Put 50 to 105 kPa (7 to 15 psi) of air pressure in the hydraulic tank.
Crank the engine for 10 seconds.
Add oil in order to keep the oil level above the "add" mark. Always close the valve on the air regulator and slowly loosen the cap on the hydraulic tank in order to release the pressure in the tank before adding oil.
Repeat Steps 8 and 9 until the oil level in the hydraulic tank does not change by a large amount.
Close the valve on the air regulator. Remove the air regulator and the valve from the test fitting on the hydraulic tank.
Start the engine. Run the engine at approximately 25% of HIGH IDLE.
Move the TILT control lever to the full RACK BACK position for 1 second. Move the TILT control lever to the HOLD position for 2 seconds. Repeat the cycle for 15 seconds in order to ensure equipment pressure and cylinder rod movement.
Cylinder air removal:Note: Use the full positions of the control lever to extend and retract the cylinder rods. Do not move the control lever. Do not cause the relief valve to open. Keep the engine at LOW IDLE.
Extend the rod of the cylinder approximately 457
