Remove Aftercooler Cores
1. Drain the aftercooler raw water cooling system. 2. Disconnect the governor control linkage from the governor. Remove the governor control channel assembly (1).3. When removing the left aftercooler core, remove the gauge panel mounting bolts (2). Lay the gauge panel (3) aside.4. Remove the aftercooler air inlet line retaining bolts (4) and washers from the turbochargers.5. Disconnect equalizer line (5) from aftercooler air inlet lines (6).6. Remove the aftercooler upper housing mounting bolts (7). Move the air cleaner support brace and expansion tank support brace away from the aftercooler housings. Remove the aftercooler upper housing (8) - weight 55 lbs. (25 kg). 7. Remove the aftercooler raw water inlet elbow (9). Remove the sleeve assembly (10). 8. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield front water outlet line (11).9. Remove the jacket water bypass line (12).10. Remove the aftercooler raw water outlet line (13).11. Remove the sleeve assembly (14).12. Remove the aftercooler core (15) - weight 50 lbs. (23 kg).Install Aftercooler Cores
1. Thoroughly clean old gaskets from mating surfaces of aftercooler core and upper and lower housings.2. Install a new core-to-lower housing gasket. Install the aftercooler core in lower housing. 3. Install the sleeve assemblies (1) in front and rear of aftercooler lower housing.
Be sure that drain hole in sleeve assemblies is in the downward position.
4. Install the aftercooler water inlet elbow.5. Install the water outlet line on front of aftercooler housing. 6. Install the jacket water bypass line (2).7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield front water outlet line. 8. Install a new core-to-upper housing gasket. Position the aftercooler upper housing (3) on the engine. Position all hold down clamps and braces. Install upper housing mounting bolts.9. Connect the equalizer line to aftercooler air inlet line.10. Install the air inlet line retaining bolt and washer in the turbocharger.11. Position the gauge panel on left aftercooler upper housing, and install mounting bolts.12. Install the governor control channel assembly. Connect control linkage to the governor.
