Information:

Remove Right Camshaft Housing
preparatory steps: a) remove right turbochargerb) remove right exhaust manifold heat shieldc) remove right valve coverd) remove fuel injection lines (right side)1. Rotate the crankshaft to top dead center compression stroke No. 1 piston. See LOCATING TOP DEAD CENTER COMPRESSION POSITION FOR NO. 1 PISTON in TESTING AND ADJUSTING. 2. Remove the right air cleaner support bracket (1).3. Remove the exhaust elbow (2). 4. Remove the engine lifting bracket (3) and plate (4). 5. Remove the camshaft housing end cover (5). Remove the camshaft housing mounting bolts (6), nuts (7), and locks.6. Remove the inner fuel injection lines (8).7. Remove the remaining camshaft housing mounting bolts.8. Install two 3/8" - 16NC forged eyebolts in the camshaft housing. Attach a hoist and remove the right camshaft housing - weight 120 lbs. (54 kg).Install Right Camshaft Housing
1. Adjust all valve lash adjustment screws for maximum valve clearance. 2. Align the phasing gear timing marks, and install the camshaft timing pin (1) in the inlet camshaft timing slot.3. Check to be sure that the crankshaft is at TDC compression position for No. 1 piston. The crankshaft will also be in this position if: (a) The timing pin can be inserted into slot in fuel injection pump camshaft as outlined in FUEL INJECTION PUMP CAMSHAFT TIMING in TESTING AND ADJUSTING.(b) The timing pin for the left camshaft housing will drop into timing slot in left inlet camshaft (if the housing has not been disturbed).
If above procedure relating to valve lash, camshaft timing marks, and crankshaft position is not followed, damage to the engine can result.
4. Attach a hoist and position the camshaft housing on engine making sure that exhaust camshaft gear and drive gear are meshed. Install the camshaft housing retaining bolts, nuts, and locks.5. Install the inner fuel injection lines. Tighten all retaining nuts to 30 5 lb. ft. (4,1 0,7 mkg).6. Install the camshaft housing end cover.7. Install the engine lifting bracket and plate. 8. Install the exhaust elbow (2). 9. Install the air cleaner support bracket (3).10. Remove all timing pins from their timing slots. Install timing pins in their respective storage positions.concluding steps: a) install fuel injection lines (right side)b) install right turbochargerc) install right exhaust manifold heat shieldd) adjust valve clearancee) install right valve cover
