(5) Vertical front fan assemblyThere are eight fans in the flywheel cabinet. Four fans, (2) and (3), are in a horizontal position and located above the flywheel. There are four fans, (1) and (5), in a vertical position and are located on the left side panel of the flywheel cabinet. Each fan has an alarm that signals the fan interface board if any problems occur.Horizontal Fans
Horizontal Fan Removal
Refer to Systems Operation, Test and Adjust, UENR4695, "Internal Component Pre-Removal Steps". Perform the internal component pre-removal procedure to shut down the system and to gain access to internal components.Note: The system must be de-energized before removal steps can be performed.
Remove the 17 bolts from front plate.
Remove the six bolts that attach the front horizontal fans (3), to the flywheel cabinet.
Unplug the power cables and the sensing cables from each fan.
Slide the assembly forward to remove from the flywheel cabinet.
Remove front fan assembly.
Remove the two bolts that connect the back fans (2) to the flywheel cabinet.
Unplug the power cables and the sensing cables from each fan.
Slide the assembly forward to remove from the flywheel cabinet.
Remove back fan assembly.Horizontal Fan Installation
Slide the back fan assembly (2) into the flywheel cabinet along the metal guide rails.
Plug the fan power and sensing cables into the fan assembly.
Tighten the two bolts that mount the fan assembly to the flywheel cabinet.
Slide front fan assembly (3) into the flywheel cabinet along the metal guide rails.
Plug the fan power and sensing cables into the fan assembly.
Tighten the six bolts that mount the fan assembly to the flywheel cabinet.
Mount the front plate to the flywheel cabinet with the 17 bolts that were removed earlier in the procedure.Vertical Fans
Vertical Fan Removal
Refer to Systems Operation, Test and Adjust, UENR4695, "Internal Component Pre-Removal Steps". Perform the internal component pre-removal procedure to shut down the system and to gain access to internal components.
Remove the 12 bolts that connect the door panel to the flywheel cabinet.
Remove the left door of the flywheel cabinet.
Remove the 19 bolts from the front plate.
Remove the front plate.
Remove the three bolts that connect the front fan assembly (5) to the flywheel cabinet.
Unplug the power cables and the sensing cables from each fan.
Slide the assembly forward to remove from the flywheel cabinet.
Remove the front fan assembly from the flywheel cabinet.
Remove the two bolts that connect the back fan assembly (1) to the flywheel cabinet.
Unplug the power cables and the sensing cables from each fan.
Slide the assembly forward to remove from the flywheel cabinet.
Remove the back fan assembly.Vertical Fan Installation
Slide the back fan assembly (1) into the flywheel cabinet along metal guide rails.
Plug the fan power and sensing cables into fan assembly.
Tighten the two bolts that mount the fan assembly to the flywheel cabinet.
Slide the front fan assembly (5) into the flywheel cabinet along metal guide rails.
Plug the fan power cable and sensing cable into fan assembly.
