The new 141-4857 Cylinder Liner Sleeve is effective with the following engines:
3606 (8RB730),3608 (6MC589, 8LL11, 7WR26),3612 (9RC277, 9FR21), 3616 (1PD344, 1FN150)--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Reference: Engine News, February 1996, Page 15, "New Cylinder Liner And Cylinder Sleeve Help Prevent Carbon Buildup Around Piston Top Land".Description of Change: A new cylinder liner sleeve (cuff) is used on all 3600 diesel engines. The new sleeve will help reduce the amount of soot in the engine crankcase oil. This soot reduction will extend the oil change period for engines that change the engine oil due to the soot condemning limit. The primary reason for the cylinder liner sleeve is to scrape the carbon deposits off the piston and reduce formation of carbon deposits on the piston. This helps reduce the buildup of carbon on the piston top land which could damage the cylinder liner.
Adaptable To: The new 141-4857 Cylinder Liner Sleeve is a direct replacement for the former 116-0682 Cylinder Liner Sleeve. The former cylinder liner sleeve is canceled.
The counterbored end of the cylinder liner sleeve is marked "TOP". The cylinder liner sleeve must be installed with the end marked "TOP" up, or damage to the engine will occur.
