Use Tooling (C) to raise link group (3) and align the pin bore with the pin bore of the power train arrangement. Move one pin (23) into the bore. Install one plate (22), one plate (21), two hard washers (20), and two bolts (19). Repeat for the opposite side.

Attach a suitable lifting device onto rear suspension group (34). The weight of rear suspension group (34) is approximately 480 kg (1060 lb). Remove Tooling (C) and two suitable lifting devices from rear suspension group (34). Lower rear suspension group (34). Align the bores of rear suspension group (34) and the power train arrangement. Reposition pin (32), one plate (31), six hard washers (30), and six bolts (29). Repeat for the other side.Note: Ensure pins (32) are oriented with the grease ports towards the axle housing.

Move pin (30) into the pin bore. Install plate (29), six hard washers (28), six bolts (27), plate (24), three hard washers (26), and three bolts (25). Repeat for the remaining pin.

Position the spider assembly of slip joint (1) onto the transmission yoke (E). Install 4 bolts (2). Remove Tooling (B).
Use the following procedure to mate the spider assemblies of slip joint (1) onto the transmission yoke (E) and onto the torque converter yoke (D).Note: When installing the drive shaft, cut the weld wire that holds the slip joint together prior to seating the universal joint on the transmission.
Mate the key and pilot diameter of the spider assembly of slip joint (1) with the transmission yoke (E). Use a suitable rubber or wooden hammer to completely seat the universal joint.
