Installation of Canopy and Guard Assemblies
The canopy can be installed to the body either in the upside-down position or in the upside position. The body is in the upside-down position for this instruction. 1. Position the canopy on the body.2. Jacks and wedges may be needed to align the canopy to the body.Support the canopy assembly until it is secured to the body.3. Weld the canopy to the body to the following parameters;* A - make an 8 mm (.31 in) bevel groove weld, 2 PLACES.* B - make an 8 mm (.31 in) fillet weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in), 2 PLACES towards the inside of the canopy.* C - make an 8 mm (.31 in) fillet weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in), 2 PLACES on the outside of the canopy.* D - make a 10 mm (.4 in) bevel groove weld, 2 PLACES.* E - make a 10 mm (.4 in) fillet weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in) on the outside of the body.* F - make a 10 mm (.4 in) fillet weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in) on the inside of the body. 4. Weld one short tube (3) on the left side of the canopy to the dimensions shown. The four long tubes (4) go to the right side of tube (3).* G - make a 6 mm (.4 in) bevel groove weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in), both ends, 2 SIDES, 5 BRACES.* H - make a 6 mm (.24 in) fillet weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in), 5 BRACES, both ends. 5. Locate the guard assemblies on the canopy to the dimensions shown in the illustration above.6. Install 8W3667 LH Guard Assembly (1) and 8W3666 RH Guard Assembly (2) to the canopy with the following welds:* J - make a 4 mm (.16 in) bevel groove weld across the top of the guard assembly, 2 PLACES.* K - make a 4 mm (.16 in) 25 mm - 75 mm (1 - 3.0 in) skip fillet weld across the bottom, 2 PLACES.* L - make a 4 mm (.16 in) fillet weld down the sides, 4 PLACES.Welding Canopy to Sideboards
A small plate assembly between the canopy and the sideboard must be installed if the body is equipped with sideboards. This assembly may have been preassembled at the factory. 1. Install 8W9092 Plate (1) with the following welds at the dimensions and location shown in the illustration, both sides:* A - make a 10 mm (.4 in) bevel groove weld, 2 SIDES, 2 PLACES.* B - make a 10 mm (.4 in) fillet weld, 2 PLACES.* C - make a 2.5 mm (.1 in) square groove weld, both sides, 2 PLACES. 2. Install 8W9090 RH Plate (2) and 8W9091 LH Plate with the following welds at the dimensions and location shown in the illustration:* D - make an 8 mm (.31 in) fillet weld, 2
