Information:


To prevent personal injury, be sure all personnel are clear of the machine. Sound the horn for several seconds before starting the engine.
Never move the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position while the engine is operating. Serious damage to the electrical system could result.

Turn the battery disconnect switch (1) to the ON position.
Check that there are no oil or other fluid leaks on the machine.
Check that all switches, selectors, and controls are OFF, in STANDBY, or in the NEUTRAL position.

Check that the auxiliary shutdown knobs on the machine control panel and on the screed control panel are in the OFF position.

Check that the operating mode control (1) is in the STANDBY position.
Check that the propel lever (2) is in the NEUTRAL position.

Turn the engine start switch (3) to the ON position. The charging system, electrical system disabled, parking brake, engine fault, and brake efficiency indicators turn on.
Briefly sound the horn before you start the engine.
Turn the engine start switch to the START position until the engine starts. Note: If the engine does not start within 30 seconds, do not continue trying. Turn the engine start switch (3) to the OFF position. Wait for two minutes to allow the starter motor to cool down, then try again.Note: If the machine control enable switch is pressed during the start-up procedure, the machine will not start. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position, wait for five seconds to permit the machine electronic system to be reset, and try again.

While the engine is running, only the parking brake indicator (4) and the electrical system disabled indicator (5) should remain on.
If the charging system indicator (6) remains OFF during the start-up procedure, check that the indicator bulb is working properly. If the charging system indicator (6) remains ON while the engine is running, there is a fault in the battery charging system. In this case, stop the machine and consult your Cat dealer.
