Test and Adjust the Speed of the Auger Conveyor
Introduction
The following test will determine if the shaft speed for the left auger conveyor and the right auger conveyor is at the correct operating speed (rpm).Required Tools
Table 1
Required Tools
Item    Part Number    Description    Qty
1     1U-6602     Photo-Tach     1
2     9U-6910     Reflective Tape     1    Adjustment Procedure
The following test will explain the procedure for checking the speed of the right auger conveyor. The procedure for the left auger conveyor is identical.

(1) Reflective tape (3) Shaft
Attach a piece of reflective tape (1) on shaft (3) for the auger conveyor.
Start the engine.
Run the engine at high idle. Hold the toggle switch for the right auger conveyor in the MANUAL position. Use phototach (2) in order to measure the shaft speed of the auger conveyor.Note: Since the toggle switch for the auger conveyor is spring loaded in the MANUAL position, one person needs to hold the toggle switch in the MANUAL position. Another person needs to use the phototach to measure the shaft speed of the right auger conveyor.
If the shaft speed of the right auger conveyor is 140 5 rpm, the auger conveyor is operating at the correct speed. No adjustment is necessary. Turn off the engine. Remove the piece of reflective tape.
If the shaft speed of the auger conveyor is above 145 rpm, the auger conveyor is running too fast.Note: The shaft speed of the auger conveyor should be calibrated to a lower setting in order to prevent throwing material off the auger conveyor.
Calibrate the auger conveyor. Use the calibration procedure in the Troubleshooting, KENR5036, "Electrical and Hydraulic Systems" manual. Check the shaft speed.
If the speed of the auger conveyor is running below 135 rpm, the shaft speed of the auger conveyor should be calibrated to a higher setting.
Calibrate the auger conveyor. Use the calibration procedure in the Troubleshooting, KENR5036, "Electrical and Hydraulic Systems" manual. Check the shaft speed.
If the speed of the auger conveyor is still too slow, the piston pumps may not be producing enough flow.
Perform the Testing and Adjusting, "Piston Pump Flow - Test" procedure in this manual. Replace the pump, if necessary.
Turn off the engine. Remove the piece of reflective tape.Note: The auger calibration procedure will allow the augers to be calibrated between 100 to 140 rpm.
