Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Coolant flow is balanced by the placement of various size orifices in the cooling circuit. These orifices are strategically placed in order to provide the correct balance and flow. Do not change the position or size of the orifices.

Drain the coolant from the engine.
Remove four bolts (1).
Pull the following components away from the coolant mixer housing: the tube (3), the elbow and the gasket. Check the gasket for wear or damage. Lubricate the seal before installation.
Remove four bolts (4).
Remove the following components away from the coolant mixer housing: the tube (5), the elbow and the gasket. Check the gasket for wear or damage. Replace the gasket, if necessary. Lubricate the seal before installation.
Remove four bolts (10).
Remove the following components away from the coolant mixer housing: the elbow (11), the tube and the gasket. Check the gasket for wear or damage. Replace the gasket, if necessary. Lubricate the seal before installation.
Remove four bolts (2).
Remove four bolts (12).
Remove the aftercooler water tube (13) as a unit.
Remove four bolts (9).
Disconnect the adapter (8) and the gasket. Check the gasket for wear or damage. Replace the gasket, if necessary.
Disconnect the water jacket temperature sensor (6).

Remove six bolts (14).
Attach a hoist and Tool (A) to the coolant mixer housing.
Remove the coolant mixer housing (7). The weight of the coolant mixer housing is approximately 42 kg (93 lb). Installation Procedure

Remove four bolts (10).
Remove the following components away from the coolant mixer housing: the elbow (11), the tube and the gasket. Check the gasket for wear or damage. Replace the gasket, if necessary. Lubricate the seal before installation.
Remove four bolts (2).
Remove four bolts (12).
Remove the aftercooler water tube (13) as a unit.
Remove four bolts (9).
Disconnect the adapter (8) and the gasket. Check the gasket for wear or damage. Replace the gasket, if necessary.
Disconnect the water jacket temperature sensor (6).

Remove six bolts (14).
Attach a hoist and Tool (A) to the coolant mixer housing.
