Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the engine.

Remove bolts (1).
Remove the coupling (4).
Fasten a hoist and Tool (A) to the water pump (3). Remove the bolts (2) that hold the water pump (3) to the front housing. Remove the water pump. The weight of the pump is approximately 119 kg (265 lb).
Remove the O-ring seal from the water pump. Replace the O-rings.

Remove the coupling (5) (if equipped).
Remove four bolts (9). Pull the elbow (6) away from the water pump. Replace the gasket.
Fasten a hoist and Tool (A) to the water pump (8). Remove the bolts (7) that hold the water pump (8) to the front housing. Remove the water pump. The weight of the water pump is 119 kg (265 lb). Note: Lubricate the seals on the tube with glycerin before installation.
