Service When Required
Change the Transducer
When the Sonic Tracker II is erratic or has inconsistent readings, replace the transducer. The most common indication of contamination is the ability of the Sonic Tracker II to detect the ground, but not a stringline or the bail. 1. Remove and discard filter foam (6).2. Remove four screws (3) that hold retaining ring (5).3. Remove retaining ring (5) and O-ring (2).4. Gently pull transducer (4) until connector (1) is exposed.5. Disconnect transducer (4) at connector (1).6. Align the groove on connector (1) and connect a new transducer. When the tab meets the groove, the connectors are completely together.7. Align the pins on the transducer (where the wires are connected) to the recessed areas. Install the transducer into the Sonic Tracker II.8. Install a new O-ring around the transducer. Always use a new O-ring. Used O-rings are distorted and may lose their elasticity.9. Place retaining ring (5) over transducer (4) with the beveled edges outward. The flat surface must be against the Sonic Tracker II housing. Align the holes for screws (3).10. Install the screws in a cross pattern but DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Over tightening may distort the transducer and may crack the retaining ring. The o ring reduces vibration that would loosen the screws.
DO NOT use Loctite® threadlocker on the screws. Loctite threadlocker attacks the plastic retaining ring.
11. Make sure the metallic surface is free from wrinkles. If the transducer has wrinkles, repeat steps 7 thru 10.12. Install new foam filter (6) provided in the kit.Clean and Dry Cable Ends
Clean the cable ends with a nonflammable solvent if they come in contact with asphalt. Dry thoroughly before storing.Dry the cables thoroughly if they get wet. Do not store wet cables. The water can cause electrical problems or decreased system performance.Change Filter Foam
Every 250 Service Hours or Monthly 1. Remove and discard the filter foam.2. Install new foam filter.
