(1) Remove the former latch assemblies from the side and rear doors. For 8K4874 Latches, also remove the cable operated remote latch. (2) For installation of 3V1971 Latches, remove the same amount of metal from the top and bottom of former opening (A) to get the 3.24" (82.3) dimension of new opening (B). Drill six .194"Ø (4.92Ø) holes (D). Put 3V1971 Latch Assembly (1) into position over opening (B) and install six 9M5733 Rivets (2). (3) For installation of the main latch of 3V4456 Latch Assemblies, remove metal from the edge of former hole (E) that is farthest from the latch bolt to get the 4.50" (114.3) dimension of new opening (F). Drill six .194"Ø (4.92Ø) holes (G). (4) Use six 9M5733 Rivets to install the upper part (3) of 3V4456 Latch Assembly. Drill four .194"Ø (4.9Ø) holes (G) as shown and install the lower part of the latch assembly with four 9M5732 rivets. Fasten the cable to the latches and adjust the cable length to give the dimension shown from the latch bolt to the edge of the door.
