BELT-SERPENTINE 2882355 - Caterpillar

1. Put identification on electric wires (2) as to their location on the alternator. Disconnect the wires from the alternator.2. Loosen nut (1) on the belt tightener adjustment rod (3) and remove the belt from the alternator. 3. Loosen the bolt that holds the adjustment rod (3) to the engine.4. Remove bolts (4), (5) and (6). Remove the alternator.Install Alternator
1. Put the alternator in position on the engine. 2. Install bolts (4) and bolt (3).3. Tighten bolt (1).4. Use a belt gauge such as a Borroughs Tool Company Part No. BT-33-72C or an equivalent and make an adjustment of vee belts. Measure the belt farthest from the engine. Tighten new belts until gauge indication is 534 22 N (120 5 lb.). Operate the engine at high idle for a minimum of 30 minutes after Step 6. Make another adjustment of the belt tension. The correct gauge indication for a used belt is 400 44 N (90 10 lb.). Tighten the bolts that hold the alternator in position.5. Connect the electric wires to their correct location on the alternator.6. Tighten nuts (2) to a torque of 149 20 N m (110 15 lb.ft.).
