Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also in accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Caterpillar has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2007, 2008, and 2009 model year trucks equipped with certain Caterpillar C7, C9, C13, and C15 truck engines.
A failure of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) chassis attachment bracket and straps may allow the DPF to separate from the chassis and become a road hazard, which may result in a situation where a vehicle crash could occur. New DPF chassis attachment brackets and straps will be installed on the products listed below. You will not be charged for the service performed.
If you are a lessor of these vehicles, you must forward this letter to your lessee within ten days.
If you have had your vehicle repaired for this condition prior to receipt of this notice and incurred any costs, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Please contact Caterpillar at this toll free number (800) 447-4986.

Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

Rework Procedure
1) Wash debris from Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and adjacent exhaust piping as necessary.
2) Remove exhaust piping from DPF inlet, DPF outlet, and the CGI port.
3) Disconnect the electrical harness from the DPF sensor box.
4) Place a transmission jack or similar lifting device under the DPF center section.
5) Loosen and remove the DPF chassis attachment bracket straps that are located on the inlet and outlet sections of the DPF. Do
