When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The 20R-5604 and 20R-5605 Air Compressors were released without a inlet check valve in the head. It has been found that an inline check valve may be required for some engine applications not using boosted air for the compressor. To support the need for check valves in the field, the 20R-5604 and 20R-5605 Air Compressors have been replaced by 20R-7295 and 20R-7296 Air Compressors that include the compressor with one 340-5702 Check Valve and two 8T-1117 Hose Clamps.
ACTION REQUIRED
If dealer has 20R-5604 and 20R-5605 Air Compressors in dealer parts stock, update the package to include one 340-5702 Check Valve and two 8T-1117 Hose Clamps. Also print out and include a copy of Special Instruction, REHS4833, "Procedure to Install the In-line Check Valve in the Inlet Hose to the Air Compressor" in the box.
Mark the package label on the outside of the box to indicate that the air compressor has been reworked according to this program and return the air compressor to dealer parts stock.
Record the serial number of the air compressor that is in the package and include the serial number of the air compressor in the claim story.
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all 20R-5604 and 20R-5605 Air Compressors reworked in dealer parts stock. One 340-5702 Check Valve and two 8T-1117 Hose Clamps are allowed for each air compressor reworked in dealer parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
