Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.
Move all of the scraper controls in order to relieve the pressure in the hydraulic system. Open the cap on the hydraulic tank slowly in order to release the pressure in the hydraulic tank.

Remove cap (1) from accumulator (2) .
Purge the pressure from the accumulator. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, RENR1496 for information on purging the pressure in the accumulator.
At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.To prevent possible injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

Attach Tool (A), a hoist and a nylon lifting strap to accumulator (2). Remove four bolts (3) that secure bracket (4) to accumulator (2). Remove bracket (4) from accumulator (2) .

Disconnect hose assembly (5) and the O-ring seal from accumulator (2). Remove four bolts (6) that secure accumulator (2) to the machine. Remove accumulator (2) from the machine. The accumulator weighs 33 kg (73 lb).
