Component Code(s) 5051, 3030SUBJECT: A NEW RELIEF VALVE MAY IMPROVE THE TRANSMISSION HYDRAULIC
CONTROL PRESSURE ON CERTAIN M325B MATERIAL HANDLERS
PROBLEM:
The relief valve in the transmission lines group is sensitive to hydraulic fluid contamination. Contaminated hydraulic fluid may cause the relief valve to maintain an unstable hydraulic control pressure setting. If the relief pressure setting is too low, it can create clutch plate slippage.
SOLUTION:
If the transmission hydraulic control pressure is erratic, replace the 203-6028 Relief Valve with a new 218-8373 Relief Valve. The new relief valve has decreased sensitivity to contaminated hydraulic fluid. The location of the relief valve is shown in Illustration 1. Set the new valve to 2070 kPa (300 psi) at low engine idle.
