Illustration 2.Hose Assembly Procedure
1. After the hose is cut to length and skived, assemble the 5P7860 Stem Assembly (90°) into one end and install one 5P6449 Sleeve.2. Start the other end of the hose into the 8G3817 Tube from the end that has the longer straight length. Use water or 5P3975 Rubber Lubricant on the inside of the tube so the hose will slide through easier, and if necessary, use a hammer with a plastic tip to hit against the assembled coupling as shown in Illustration 1.3. Put the other 5P6449 Sleeve on the hose, with the larger chamfer toward the end of the hose, and install the 5P3158 Stem Assembly (30°) into the hose. Do not assemble the sleeve on the stem.4. Put the assembly on a flat surface, then turn the hose in the tube until the end face of the 5P7860 Stem Assembly (90°) is vertical as checked with a square. See Illustration 2.5. With the hose in this position, turn the 5P3158 Stem Assembly (30°) in the hose until the end face of the stem is vertical as checked with a square. See Illustration 3. When the stem assemblies are in the correct position, the bend angle of each stem will be toward the other stem.6. Turn the dial of a 7S1125 Protractor Group until the alignment mark is at zero, then fasten the protractor to the 5P3158 Stem Assembly so the bubble is at the level marks.7. Turn the protractor dial to the correct degree setting as follows (see Illustrations 4 and 5): ... For either a 7P7618 or 7P7128 Hose Assembly, use a setting of 28°.... For either a 7P7620 or 7P7129 Hose Assembly, use a setting of 332°.8. Turn the stem in the hose until the protractor bubble is level again (Illustration 6).9. Remove the protractor and use the hose press to assemble the stem and sleeve on the end of the hose.
