Modification Of Radiator Guard Group On 963 Loaders
1. Use the Service Manual as a reference to remove the radiator grill.2. Fabricate two spacers as shown in Illustration 1.
Illustration 1.3. Weld the spacers, fabricated in Step 2, at the top of the radiator guard as shown in Illustration 2. Make sure the spacers are in alignment with the weld nuts.4. Cut the studs off the 8G1182 Plate Assemblies at the bottom of the guard. Drill 12.7 mm (.50") holes through the parts of the studs in the brackets.5. Fabricate two spacers as shown in Illustration 3.6. Weld the spacers, fabricated in Step 5, to the 8G1182 Plate Assemblies. Make sure the holes in the spacers are in alignment with the holes which were drilled through the studs. See Illustration 2.7. Put the grill in place on the machine, but turn it 180° (front to back) from its original position. In this position, the louvers will direct the fan discharge up in the air.
Illustration 2.
Illustration 3.8. The louvers in the grill will make contact with the welded spacers. For this reason, the louvers must be cut to have clearance for the spacers. When installed, the louvers must make contact with the radiator guard.9. If the machine is equipped with a lighting group, a louver will have to be cut to make clearance for the lamp mounting stud.10. Install the grill, and fasten it in place with two S1588 Bolts, two S509 Bolts and the original 5P1075 Washers. Two S1588 Bolts and two 5P1075 Washers are used at the top; two S509 Bolts and two 5P1075 Washers are used at the bottom.Modification Of Radiator Guard Group On 973 Loaders
1. Use the Service Manual as a reference to remove the radiator guard.2. Cut off the mounting studs for the grill as shown in Illustration 4. Drill 12.7 mm (.50") holes through the parts of the studs still in the brackets.3. Fabricate four spacers as shown in Illustration 3.4. Weld the spacers to the guard at the locations where the original studs were cut off. Make sure the holes in the spacers are in alignment with the holes which were drilled through the studs.5. Put the grill in place, but turn it 180° (front to back) from its original position. In this position, the louvers will direct the fan discharge up into the air.6. The louvers will contact the spacers at the bottom of the guard. Cut the louvers to make clearance for the spacers. When installed, the louvers must make contact with the radiator guard.7. Install the grill, and fasten it in place with four S509 Bolts and the original 5P1075 Washers.
