Details on the hardware components and the software that make up the system and all of its sub systems will be identified. The Advisor monitoring system is the new standard system used in the D8T Track-type Tractors. This manual will also discuss the means of navigating through the various screens of the Cat Advisor including how to:
View system status information
View parameters
Perform calibrations
Troubleshoot machine systemsThe Advisor monitoring system continuously monitors all machine systems. Advisor consists of both software and hardware components. The hardware components consist of the following:
Cat Advisor Graphical Display Module ECM
Instrument Cluster
Engine ECM
Implement ECM
Power Train ECM
Action Alarm
Rear Action Lamp
Switches, Sensors, and SendersIf the machine is so equipped, the Advisor monitoring system may also include connections to a Product Link ECM, Computer Aided Earthmoving System (CAES), AccuGrade System and Navigator. The Advisor monitoring system components communicate through Data Links with each other and with electronic controls on the machine's attachment components (if equipped). The Advisor monitoring system uses the following Data Links:

CAN DAdvisor directly monitors the fuel level sender, alternator R-Terminal and Advisor system voltage as well as all of the ECM's on the machine. Diagnostics and/or decisions for displays, alerts and signals to the Instrument Cluster are contained in the software in the Advisor ECM.
