Use this procedure in order to troubleshoot an occurrence for a start inhibit or a stop request from the driven equipment. Also use this procedure if the following diagnostic code is active. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" for information about diagnostic codes. Access the engine monitoring system on Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) in order to view the current trip point for this code. For information on the engine monitoring system, refer to Systems Operation, "Engine Monitoring System".

970-0 Engine Auxiliary Engine Shutdown Switch : High - most severe (3) While the engine is ready to be cranked, the switch status for the driven equipment input remains open for longer than the "Driven Equipment Delat Time".

The red stop lamp is activated.

Determine whether the driven equipment has generated a request for the start inhibit or for the shutdown. Determine the cause for the request. Service the driven equipment according to the recommendations of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the equipment.Faulty Circuit for the Driven Equipment
This input uses a low side ECM driver in order to read the status of the driven equipment. In order for the ECM to crank the engine, the circuit must become grounded. In order for the ECM to allow the engine to remain running, the circuit must remain grounded.For information that is related to troubleshooting the circuit that is for the user-defined shutdown, refer to Troubleshooting, "Shutdown - Test".
