Remove six bolts (1) and the washers that secure fan assembly (2) to adapter (3) . Use two persons to remove fan assembly (2) from adapter (3) . The weight of the fan is 32 kg (70 lb) .

Use a pry bar to rotate the pulley on the belt tightener assembly downward. Remove three V-belts (4) from pulley (5) . Remove the three V-belts from the fan drive pulley.

Loosen two bolts (6) that secure refrigerant compressor (7) to the bracket on the engine.

Loosen two bolts (8) , the washers, and the nuts that maintain the tension on the V-belt. To lower block (9) , rotate two nuts (10) . Rotate refrigerant compressor (7) downward. Remove V-belt (11) from the pulley on refrigerant compressor (7) . Remove V-belt (11) from the fan drive pulley.

Loosen two nuts (12) on rod (13) so that block (14) releases the tension on V-belt (15) .
Loosen bolt (16) . Loosen bolt (17) . Remove bolt (18) , the washers, and the nuts from block (14) . Remove bolt (16) and the washer that secures guard assembly (19) to alternator (20) . Remove guard assembly (19) from alternator (20) . Rotate alternator (20) toward the engine. Remove V-belt (15) from the pulley on the alternator. Remove V-belt (15) from the fan drive pulley. Reinstall bolt (16) .Installation Procedure
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Rotate alternator (20) toward the engine. Install V-belt (15) to the fan drive pulley. Install V-belt (15) to the pulley on the alternator. Remove bolt (16) . Position guard assembly (19) to alternator (20) . Install bolt (16) and the washer that secures guard assembly (19) to alternator (20) . Do not tighten bolt (16) at this time. Install bolt (18) , the washers, and the nuts to block (14) .
Tighten two nuts (12) on rod (13) so that block (14) maintains the correct tension on V-belt (15) . Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU7143 for the correct V-belt tension. Tighten bolts (16) and (17) .

Install V-belt (11) to the fan drive pulley. Install V-belt (11) to the pulley on refrigerant compressor (7) . Rotate refrigerant compressor (7) upward. To raise block (9) , rotate two nuts (10) . Tighten two bolts (8) , the washers, and the nuts that maintain the correct tension on the V-belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU7143 for the correct V-belt tension.

Install the three V-belts (4) to the fan drive pulley. Use a pry bar to rotate the pulley on the belt tightener assembly downward. Install three V-belts (4) to pulley (5)
