Information:

1. Move the counterweight frame to the "EXTENDED" position and install service link (1).
Install service link (1) to hold the counterweight frame in the "EXTENDED" position while service work is being performed.
2. Remove the counterbalance valves and fasten a nylon strap and hoist to the counterweight hydraulic cylinder. The weight of the cylinder is 490 lb. (222.5 kg). 3. Install tooling (A) as shown.4. Remove the plate that holds pin (2) in position and remove pin (2). 5. Install tooling (A) as shown to pin (3) at the head end of the cylinder.
Use a chain fastened through tooling (A) and fastened around the counterweight cylinder to prevent tool (A) from falling after the pin is removed.
6. Remove the plate that holds pin (3) in position and remove pin (3).7. Lower counterweight hydraulic cylinder (4) to the track. Fasten a hoist to the hydraulic cylinder and remove the hydraulic cylinder.Install Counterweight Hydraulic Cylinder
1. Put the counterweight hydraulic cylinder (1) in position on the machine and install pin (2) and plate. 2. Install the counterbalance valves on cylinder (1).3. Extend the rod end of cylinder (1) until pin (3) can be installed through the counterweight frame and rod end of the cylinder.4. Install the plate that holds pin (3) in position.5. Remove the service link and move the counterweight frame to the "RETRACTED" position.Disassemble Counterweight Hydraulic Cylinder
START BY:a. remove counterweight hydraulic cylinder 1. Install cylinder (1) in tooling (A). 2. Put a mark across head (2) and cylinder assembly (3) to keep the relation of these components.3. Give support to rod (4), remove eight bolts (5) and washers and make a separation of rod assembly (4) and head (2) from cylinder assembly (3). 4. Use tooling (B) to remove the nut that holds piston (6) to rod (4). 5. Remove pin (6) from rod (4).6. Remove backup ring (7) and O-ring seal (8) from head (2). 7. Remove ring (9) and seal assembly (10) from piston (6). 8. Use two bolts to fasten head (2) to cylinder assembly (3).9. Use tool (A) to remove rod (4) from head (2). 10. Remove head (2) from cylinder assembly (3). 11. Remove seals (11), (12) and (13) from head (2). 12. Remove retaining rings (14) on either side of bearing (15) in cylinder assembly (3). 13. Use tooling (C) to remove bearing (15) from cylinder assembly (3).14. If necessary repeat Step 13 for the bearing in rod (4).Assemble Counterweight Hydraulic Cylinder
1. Use tooling (A) to install bearing (2) in cylinder assembly (1). Bearing (2) must be in the center of its bore to allow retaining ring installation. 2. Install retaining rings (3) on either side of bearing (2).3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the bearing in the rod. 4. Install seals (5), (6) and (7) in head (4) as shown.
