1. Remove all dirt or other debris that may prevent retraction of the idler.
Be certain the hydraulic pressure in track adjusting mechanism is completely relieved and the cylinder can be moved to rear into recoil spring front pilot before attempting to separate track or remove track adjusting mechanism. On machines that have badly worn track, it is possible for the hydraulic track adjuster to be adjusted forward to the limit of its travel and the stop will be against the track roller frame front support. The hydraulic cylinder could have high oil pressure in it even though track is loose enough to remove master pin without relieving the hydraulic track adjusting pressure.
2. Open the track roller frame guard access cover and clean the vent holes thoroughly.3. Release the pressure in the hydraulic track adjuster cylinder, with caution, as given in the following steps.
Because of the hydraulic pressure in the track adjuster cylinder, never visually inspect the vent holes and valves to see if grease is escaping. Always observe the cylinder to see that it moves to the rear into the recoil spring front pilot.
4. Loosen relief valve (1) one turn. If grease does not appear, loosen the fill valve (3) one turn. If grease does not appear at the vent holes (2), operate the machine forward and backward. Loosen relief valve until it touches the guard. Loosen fill valve until it touches the guard. 5. Install tool setup (A) and remove the master pin, seal washers and spacers.6. Move the machine forward and backward until the track clears the machine.
