and 953 LoadersThe components in the hydrostatic transmission must be pre-lubricated after the transmission has been kept in storage or not installed for 90 days or more. Use the steps that follow to pre-lubricate the unit after installation in a machine and before the engine is started.
1. Fill the transmission sump until it is 220 mm (8.7") "above" the full mark. See the Maintenance (Lubrication And Maintenance) Guide for the correct oil.2. Open the transmission filter housing and fill it with oil. Close the filter housing.3. Turn the transmission components with the engine starting motor for three 5 second intervals.4. Install a 0-4000 kPa (0-600 psi) gauge at the charge pressure quick disconnect. Start the engine at low idle twice, and stop it each time the transmission charge pressure gets to 400 kPa (58 psi).5. Drain the transmission sump until the oil level is 100 mm (4") above the full mark.6. Follow the normal start up procedures.7. Check the oil level at low idle when the oil is at normal operation temperature. The machine must be at low idle for at least two minutes.8. Adjust the oil level to the full mark.
