During operation, combustion heat from the engine must be removed from the Generator Set Power Module. Some of this heat exits with the exhaust gases, which pass through a muffler. Other heat is removed from the cooling system as a cooling fan forces air through a radiator core. Both of these exhaust streams leave the Generator Set Power Module and enter the surrounding atmosphere. It is important to consider these air flows when choosing an installation site.Install the Generator Set Power Module so that there are no buildings or trees in the path of the radiator discharge air flow. The excessive heat may make building interiors uncomfortable and could kill plants and trees. Do not place another Generator Set Power Module so that the air intake of one is in the exhaust path of another. The recommended power module spacing illustration shows the correct orientation and spacing for multiple unit installations.

(1) Exhaust flow. (A) 15 m (50 ft). (B) 4.5 m (15 ft).Be aware of overhead powerlines when using vertical exhaust discharge chutes. It is recommended that these vertical discharges be used in multiple unit applications because heat is directed away from air intakes. But, if soot is allowed to build up on powerlines, an electric 'arc' may develop between the conducting soot and the ground.
