Installation Procedure
Note: Make sure that all mounting surfaces are clean prior to installation.

Attach a suitable lifting device to both sides of fixed axle (10) . The weight of the fixed axle is approximately 1900 kg (4200 lb).
Raise fixed axle (10) into position.
Install nuts (11) and the washers that hold fixed axle (10) to the front frame. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 350 50 N m (260 40 lb ft), the turn an additional 120° 10°.

Connect front drive shaft (9) to front axle (10) . Install bolts (8) . Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 150 15 N m (110 11 lb ft).

Connect hose assembly (7) to the fixed axle.
Fill the fixed axle. The capacity of the fixed axle is approximately 87 L (23 US gal). For the correct procedure, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil - Change".Note: If equipped, follow Steps 7 through 13 for the installation of the front guard to the 826H Landfill Compactor.

Secure front guard (6) to a suitable floor jack.
Use the floor jack to carefully install front guard (6) to the axle housing. The weight of the front guard is approximately 48 kg (106 lb).

Install bolts (5) and the washers.

Install bolts (4) and the washers.

Install plates (2) .
Install bolts (3) , washers, and nuts (1) .
Repeat Steps 7 through 12 for the installation of the other front guard.
Purge the air from the braking system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Brake System Air - Purge".End By: Install the front tires and rims or install the compactor wheels. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install" or Disassembly and Assembly, "Compactor Wheel - Install".
