Always wear goggles when the air conditioning system is opened. This system is charged with Freon-12 (CCL2F2-Dichlorodifluoromethane) which is not toxic or flammable. But there is a reason for caution. When Freon- 12 makes contact with a flame, lethal phosgene gas is made. INHALING FREON THROUGH A LIGHTED CIGARETTE CAN CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS. This system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. HEAT MUST NEVER BE PUT ON A CHARGED SYSTEM. 1. Close the two valve assemblies from water pump to the heater unit. Access to the valve assemblies is in the right front wheel compartment.2. Remove two bolts (1) from cushion (2). Remove the cushion.
Put plugs or caps on all air conditioning lines so foreign material and moisture will not get in.
3. Disconnect coupling (3) from the valve fitting. Put plugs or caps in heater lines to prevent loss of coolant.4. Loosen the clamp and remove hose (4) from the heater core. 5. Disconnect coupling (7) from the air conditioner core.6. Loosen the clamp and remove hose (6) from valve (5). 7. Disconnect the wires at connector (8).8. Remove bolts (9) from the housing. 9. Disconnect plug (10) from the wiring harness. 10. Remove bolt (11) from the housing.11. Lift air conditioning and heating unit (12) from the floor of the cab. Use two men to remove the unit. Weight of the unit is 75 lb. (34 kg).Install Air Conditioner And Heater Unit

1. Install air conditioning and heating unit (1) in the vehicle. Use two men to lift the unit. Weight of unit is 75 lb. (34 kg).2. Install the three mouting bolts.3. Remove plugs or caps from the air conditioning and the heating unit hoses. 4. Connect wire (2) at the connector.5. Install hose (3) to the valve and fasten the clamp in place.6. Install coupling (4) to the air conditioner core. 7. Connect the coupling to the valve fitting (5). 8. Connect plug (6) into the wiring harness. 9. Install cushion (7) on the unit housing (8) and install the two bolts.10. Open the two valve assemblies from water pump to the heater group.
