To prevent personal injury or equipment damage from failure of the flow meter or associated circuit components because of blocked pump flow, make sure before starting the engine that the flow meter valve (K) is fully open (turned couterclockwise).
Preparation
Position the machine on level ground. Turn the key start switch to the OFF position in order to stop the engine.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" .
Locate the auxiliary hydraulic lines at the end of the stick and at the connection to the attachment tool. Remove the covers and the flanges from the elbows. Set the covers and the flanges aside.
Install the portable hydraulic tester (31) between the auxiliary hydraulic lines at the elbows or the valves. Refer to the illustration of the flow meter tool layout. Open the valves in the auxiliary hydraulic lines on the stick.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position in order to start the engine. Place the power mode selector switch in the Power Mode position. The indicator should become ON .
Place the engine speed dial in position "10" on the indicator. Push the AEC switch to the OFF position. Maintain the engine at 2050 50 RPM. Three seconds after the engine is started read the engine speed.
