Rework Procedure
The following rework procedure covers the major steps for installing the new servo cylinder assembly. Refer to the Service Manual for specific details.
1. Disconnect the throttle linkage.2. Remove the shut-off solenoid and the fuel ratio control.3. Remove the rear governor housing and gasket. See Illustration 1.4. If it will be difficult to remove the rack servo assembly due to the engine installation, remove the intermediate governor housing and gasket.5. Remove the rack servo assembly.6. Remove the servo piston assembly from the servo cylinder assembly.7. Lubricate the bore of the new servo cylinder assembly with clean engine oil and install the servo piston assembly. All cylinder assemblies with a flat face pin should have been purged from your dealership's parts stock per Product Support Program, PS4531. However, please check the new cylinder assembly. See Illustrations 2 and 3. Do NOT use a cylinder assembly with the flat face pin. Also do NOT attempt to (re)stake the pin to salvage a cylinder assembly.
8. Install the rack servo assembly. Make sure that the ends of the lever of the cylinder assembly are properly engaged in the groove of the upper servo sleeve and in the groove of the lower governor riser.
9. Install the governor housing(s).10. Install the fuel ratio control and the shut-off solenoid. As normally performed after working on the governor, remove the air cleaner and be prepared to block the air inlet before starting the engine.
11. Start the engine. The engine must idle smoothly and accelerate and decelerate in a normal manner as the throttle is manually operated.12. Shut-off the engine and install the air cleaner.13. Check the fuel settings and the fuel ratio control setting. The checking tolerance is .25 mm ( .10 in.).
14. If necessary, adjust the settings. The setting(s) should be adjust as close as possible to specifications on the Engine Information Plate. There is no tolerance when adjusting the setting(s).
15. Reconnect the throttle linkage and adjust if necessary.16. Install new governor seals and wire.17. Stamp
