Stopping the Machine
If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the wheels in addition to setting the parking brakes.
Stop the machine on level ground.1. Release the accelerator and depress the service brake pedal to stop the machine.2. Move the transmission control to NEUTRAL, after the machine has stopped.3. Lower the bowl.4. Apply the parking brake.Stopping the Engines
Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components. Follow the procedure outlined below, to allow the engine to cool. This will also prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger center housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
1. Operate the engines at reduced load for five minutes, to dissipate the heat.2. Reduce the engine speed to low idle for 30 seconds, to allow the turbochargers to slow down.631E and 637E Tractor
3. Turn the key to OFF to stop the tractor engine. Remove the key before leaving the machine. Pull the handle all the way OUT to stop the tractor engine. This is used for emergencies only.637E Only
4. Remove the start key from the scraper engine panel. Pull the handle all the way OUT to stop the scraper engine. This is used for emergencies only. 5. Turn OFF and remove the disconnect key. 637E Only: Turn OFF and remove the disconnect key for the scraper engine.
