Towing Brake Release Cylinder - Remove
Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes to prevent fluid loss and contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) from towing brake release cylinder (1).

Remove four bolts (4) and the washers from towing brake release cylinder (1).

Install two 3/8 inch UNC bolts in towing brake release cylinder (1). Tighten the two bolts evenly to raise towing brake release cylinder (1) from the frame.
Using a suitable lifting device, remove towing brake release cylinder (1) from the frame. The weight of towing brake release cylinder (1) is approximately 20 kg (44 lb).
