Do not disconnect the air lines until the air pressure in the system is at zero. If hose is disconnected under pressure it can cause personal injury.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove the air pressure from the air tank and drain the coolant from the cooling system.

Disconnect hose assembly (1), hose assembly (3), hose assembly (6), and hose (2) .
Remove bolts (7) .
Remove bolt (8) .
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to air compressor (4). The weight of air compressor (4) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Remove bolts (5) .
Remove air compressor (4) and the gasket.Installation Procedure

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to air compressor (4). The weight of air compressor (4) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Position air compressor (4) in the front housing.Note: Bolts (5) must be installed prior to bolts (7) .
Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (5). Install bolts (5) .
Install bolts (7) .
Install bolt (8) .
Connect hose assembly (1), hose assembly (3), hose assembly (6), and hose (2) .
Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".
