Move the machine until drain plug (3) is in the DOWNWARD position. Remove drain plug (3) and drain the oil into a suitable container.
Remove bolts (1), the washers, and cover assembly (2).

Remove O-ring seal (4) from the final drive.

Typical Example
Install Tooling (A) in the end of axle shaft (5). Use Tooling (A) in order to pull axle shaft (5) from the final drive by approximately 508 mm (20 inch).
Attach a suitable lifting device to axle shaft (5), as shown. The weight of axle shaft (5) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).
Remove axle shaft (5).

Remove retaining ring (8), sun gear (7), and thrust washer (6) from axle shaft (5). Installation Procedure
Note: Thoroughly clean all of the components prior to installation.

Attach a suitable lifting device to axle shaft (5). The weight of axle shaft (5) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb). Install axle shaft (5) in the final drive. Slide Tooling (B) over the end of the axle shaft, as shown. Use Tooling (B) in order to guide the axle shaft in position in the final drive.

Install thrust washer (6) (not shown).
Align sun gear (7) with the planetary gears and slide sun gear (7) completely on the axle shaft. Remove Tooling (B).

Install retaining ring (8).
Install O-ring seal (4) in the groove of the final drive assembly.

Install cover assembly (2), bolts (1), and the washers. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft).
Install drain plug (3).
Fill the axle housing with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil - Change".
