Position one 129-4543 Washer between the inboard sprocket and inboard bearing. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the set screws for the sprocket and bearing collar. Tighten the set screws securely against the end cap of the shaft. Place the outboard sprocket and the tube onto the shaft. Record the distance between the outer edges of the sprockets for reference. On 2.5 m machines, the distance should be 483 mm (19 inch). On 3 m machines, the distance should be 630 mm (24.8 inch).
On 3 m machines, position one 110-2834 Shim between the outboard sprocket and outboard flange bearing.
Partially thread the two 7X-0345 Bolts into the inboard 131-0326 Bearing in order to hold the head shaft assembly in place on the frame.
Tighten down the outside 101-9030 Flange Bearing to the frame. Adjust the position of the head shaft assembly so there is a measurement of 57 mm (2.25 inch) between the inside edge of the outboard sprocket and the inside of the frame.
Place 122-6058 Shims and 8I-0796 Shims between the inside bearing and the frame, as required. Tighten the two 7X-0345 Bolts. On 2.5 meter machines, only 122-6058 Shims are used. The head shaft should spin freely. If this is not the case, shims may need to be added or removed.
Remove the set screws from the 101-9030 Flange Bearing and apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the threads. Tighten the set screws.Note: Do NOT grease the bearings of the head shaft before assembling to the frame and checking for free rotation.
