1. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to the steering cylinder assembly, as shown. Put the steering cylinder assembly in position in the front frame. The weight of the steering cylinder assembly is 80 kg (176 lb). 2. Align the bores of the steering cylinder and the front frame. Put 5P-0960Molybdenum Grease in the pin bore and install pin (5) and shims (4) (as required). 3. Install three plastic plugs (8) in each collet, as shown. 4. Install three bungs (9) in each collet, as shown.5. Put 5P-3931Anti-Seize Compound on the outside and inside diameters of all the collets before assembly. Install collet assemblies (2) and (6).6. Put 5P-3931Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of bolt (3). Install bolt (3) and the washer that holds the collet assemblies to the pin assembly. The collet on one side must not extend farther than the other collet when the bolt is tight.7. Tighten bolt (3) to a torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft). After the bolt is tight, hit the collet on each side with a heavy hammer until the torque on the bolt is less than 360 N m (265 lb ft).8. Tighten bolt (3) again to torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft). Hit each collet again until the torque for the bolt is less than 570 N m (420 lb ft).9. Tighten bolt (3) to a final torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft).10. Install nut (7) and tighten to a torque of 500 65 N m (370 48 lb ft). At the end of 50 service hours after any pin and collet was installed, loosen nut (7) and tighten the bolt in each collet assembly to 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft). Retighten the nut to 500 65 N m (370 48 lb ft). 11. Connect lubrication hose assembly (10) to the head end of the steering cylinder.
View under the Front Left Side Transmission Mount.12. Apply 4C-9507Compound to the threads of bolts (12) prior to assembly. Install two bolts (12), plate (11) and the nuts on the transmission mount assembly. Tighten two bolts (12) to a torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft). 13. Connect hose assembly (13) to the left side of the transmission. 14. Connect hose assemblies (14) and (15) to the steering cylinder. 15. Align the bores of the rod end of the steering cylinder with the rear frame. Put 5P-0960Molybdenum Grease in the pin bore and install pin (16) and shims (as required).16. Repeat Steps 3 to 10 to install the rod end collet assembly. 17. Connect lubrication hose assembly (17) and install bolt (18) and the washer to the rod of the steering cylinder.18. Install the automatic lubrication pump and bracket assembly (if equipped).19. Install the fire suppression cylinder and bracket assembly (if equipped).20. Fill the steering tank with oil to
