13. Using the hoist, lower boom (16) back to a horizontal position as shown. 14. Remove the outside cover from the left side of the cab riser. Remove eight bolts (17) and cover (18) to gain access to the boom cylinder mounting pin. 15. Remove retaining bolt (20) and the two washers from pin assembly (19). Fasten Tooling (E) to pin assembly (19). Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to Tooling (E) to support it. 16. Using Tooling (E), remove pin assembly (19) approximately half way out of the pin bore. Fasten another lifting sling to Tooling (E) to help support it and the pin assembly. Remove pin assembly (19) completely out of the pin bore. The weight of pin assembly (19) is 29 kg (65 lb).17. Carefully remove boom (16) from the upper frame of the machine. The weight of the boom is 1315 kg (2900 lb). Shims may be used between the boom and upper frame at the boom-to-upper frame pin bore to adjust the lateral clearance between the components.18. Remove the shims used between the boom and upper frame at the boom-to-upper frame pin joint. 19. Remove outer lip seal (21), sleeve bearing (22) and inner lip seal (23) from both sides of the boom at the boom-to-upper frame pin bore. Remove the sleeve bearings with a chisel or by cutting. The following steps are for the installation of the boom. 20. Make sure the boom-to-upper frame pin bore in the boom is thoroughly clean.21. Using Tool (F), install two inner lip seals (23) in the boom at the boom-to-upper frame pin bore. Install each inner lip seal with the sealing lip facing toward the outside of the boom and until each inner lip seal makes contact with the counterbore in the pin bore.22. Lower the temperature of two sleeve bearings (22). Using Tool (F), install each sleeve bearing in the boom-to-upper frame pin bore. Install the sleeve bearings until each one is 7.5 0.5 mm (.30 .02 in) below the outside surface of the boom.23. Using Tool (F), install two outer lip seals (21) in the boom at the boom-to-upper frame pin bore. Install each outer lip seal with the sealing lip facing toward the outside of the boom and until each one makes contact with the sleeve bearing.24. Apply 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease on the lip seals and sleeve bearings in the pin bore of the boom. 25. Make sure the threaded puller hole in boom cylinder mounting pin (11) is thoroughly clean. Install Tool (G) in the end of boom cylinder mounting pin (11). Using two persons, partially install boom cylinder mounting pin (11) in the boom. Using a hammer, center the boom cylinder mounting pin in the boom. Remove Tool (G) from the boom cylinder mounting pin. Install retainer plates (4) and (10) on boom cylinder mounting pin (11). Reinstall the two retainer plates on the stick cylinder mounting pins.
