Stopping the engine after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.Refer to the following procedure in order to allow the engine to cool. This will also prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger center housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
While the machine is stopped, rotate engine throttle control (1) in a counterclockwise direction to a low idle setting. Operate the engine for 5 minutes at LOW IDLE.

Turn the key start switch (2) to the OFF position and remove the key. Note: The engine may not stop immediately. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Delayed Engine Shutdown" section in the “Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration” story.
