5 Orient the cast notch in the downward position, when the pinion housing is assembled to the center housing.
6 4 Bolts Torque to 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft)
7 - Use the following procedure before assembly.
- Clean the surfaces of the parts in order to be free of oil, grease, fuel, or any other contaminants.
- Apply primer to one of the mating parts and allow drying before applying sealant.
- Apply blue Loctite High Flex GM to one of the mating parts.
8 - Elbow assembly Torque to 22 2 N m (195 18 lb in)
9 - Tube assembly Torque to 25 3 N m (221 27 lb in)

- As required, use shims in order to obtain the proper bevel gear mesh backlash and the contact pattern.
12 Lubricate the seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.
13 Use the following procedure in order to assemble the needle bearing assembly:
- Remove one thrust bearing race from the needle bearing assembly.
- Apply a light layer of lubricant before pressing the thrust bearing race on the thrust bearing.
- Confirm that the thrust bearing race is piloted on the thrust bearing.
14 - Nut Torque to 105 10 N m (77 7 lb ft)
15 - 194-8742 Shim
- - Total thickness of a new shim pack 2.65 0.31 mm (0.104 0.012 inch)
- - Outside diameter 290 mm (11.4 inch)
