There is spring force against cover (1). When the bolts that hold the cover in position are removed, the spring force will be released. To prevent possible personal injury, hold the cover in position as the bolts which hold it are slowly removed.
2. While holding cover (1) in position, slowly removed the two bolts and washers which hold it. Remove cover (1) and the gasket. 3. Remove spring (3) and plunger (2) from the oil filter base. The following steps are for the installation of the oil filter bypass valve.4. Check the condition of the gasket used under cover (1). If the gasket is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.5. Put clean engine oil on plunger (2) and spring (3).6. Install the oil filter bypass valve in the reverse order of removal.
