Weld the vent assembly to the fuel tank. Provide a continuous 3 mm (0.1 inch) fillet weld all around. Use electrodes that meet AWS E6012, E6013, E7014, E7024, or equivalent specifications.Note: Fit the vent assembly to the top plate of the tank. Position the vent assembly centrally over the 51 mm (2.0 inch) hole.Note: Do not cause damage to the vent.
Flush the fuel tank in order to remove any debris.
Strike the fuel tank sharply in several places in order to dislodge any debris.
Pour fuel into the fuel tank and use this fuel to wash any remaining debris to the bottom of the tank.
Remove the magnetic plug from the bottom of the fuel tank and allow the fuel to drain into a suitable container.
Clean the magnetic plug and install the magnetic plug.
Repeat the process until the fuel that comes out of the fuel tank is clean and until the magnetic plug does not collect any metallic particles.
Reinstall the fuel tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR5140.Manufacture of Components
