1. Replace the existing EPTC II Control Group with the new 148-9217 Control Group (6) and 3E-5195 Film (7). See Illustration 1.

Modify the lockup clutch control valve by installing the 6T-8237 Plug and the 4J-7533 Seal in the location shown in Illustration 2.3. Leave the cab in the raised position. Remove the 116-6470 Transmission Guard Group.4. Remove the 9G-6965 Valve Group (shown in Illustration 3) from the transmission to gain access to the 9P-3059 Valve Group (shown in Illustration 4).

9P-3059 Valve Group (part of 9G-6965 Valve Group)5. Remove parts in the bore depicted with an arrow in Illustration 4 so that a hole can be drilled. Drill a 7.0 mm (.26 in) diameter hole to dimensions shown in Illustration 5. Take extreme caution to keep debris out of body. Be sure to clean body thoroughly.6. Install the parts removed in Step 5.7. Install 5M-9623 Shims (2) and 5M-9624 Shims (3) as required as shown in Illustration 4 to increase the initial pressure setting to 600-640 kPa (87-93 psi).

Spool to be replaced. 8. Remove the existing differential spool parts depicted by arrow in Illustration 6 and install the new 6Y-2280 Differential Spool (1).9. Assemble the control including the new 137-4918 I.D. Tag (8). 10. For linkage adjustments, see Testing and Adjusting Service Manual. Test the transmission and lockup pressures to ensure conformance with the Service Manual (with the exception of the initial pressure, which was set in Step 7).11. Install the transmission guard.
