Drain The Oil
Operate the machine to warm the power train system oil. The machine must be level. Lower the attachments and apply slight down pressure. Shut off the engine and remove the key.Drain Bevel Gear Case

(1) Bevel gear case drain valve

Place a suitable container beneath bevel gear case drain valve (1).
Remove the plug from bevel gear case drain valve (1). Install a 4C-8563 Swivel into the valve. Clamp a hose to the swivel. If a 4C-8563 Swivel is not available, a 25.4 mm (1 inch) pipe and hose can be used. Use a 25.4 mm (1 inch) pipe with 1-11 1/2 NPTF threads.
Turn the swivel or pipe clockwise to open the internal drain valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Remove the swivel or remove the pipe from the drain in the bevel gear case. The drain valve will close.
Clean the oil drain plug and install the oil drain plug.Drain Torque Converter
Remove bottom guard plate (2) (if equipped) that is below the torque converter.

Torque converter drain valve assembly (if equipped)

Place a suitable container below the torque converter drain valve assembly.
Remove plug (3) from the bottom of the drain valve assembly.
Open valve (4) and allow the oil to drain from the torque converter into the suitable container.
Close valve (4) and install plug (3) when the oil has finished draining from the torque converter.Note: A steel plate may be present instead of the torque converter drain valve assembly on some machines. Remove the steel plate, if present, to drain the torque converter oil.Clean Screens
Bevel Gear Case Suction Screen
Note: Service the suction screen only after the power train system oil has been drained from the power train gear case.

(9) Suction screenUse the following procedure to clean the power train suction screen and magnetic filter:
Remove two retaining bolts (5) that secure cover (6) to the front of the power train bevel gear case.
Remove magnetic filter (8) and suction screen (9). Wash the magnetic filter and the suction screen in clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect O-ring seal (7). If the seal is damaged, replace the seal.
Install the suction screen and the magnetic filter. Install the O-ring seal in the groove of the cover.
Install the cover and secure with retaining bolts.Torque Converter Scavenge Screen
Note: Clean the torque converter scavenge screen while the power train system oil is drained from the torque converter.Reference: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Torque Converter Scavenge Screen - Clean" in this manual for the procedure to clean the torque converter scavenge screen.Install the bottom guard plate (if equipped) once the bevel gear case suction screen and the torque converter scavenge screen have been cleaned.Replace Power Train Oil Filter
